They do indeed enforce the law. I have a ticket in my pocket at this very moment. The 86dbl is hard to meet, but can be done. I think with the modifications I have done at this moment, I will pass next time. Hard to tell. But, trust me.... If you run around loudly you WILL get a ticket. Fortunatly, there are several companies offering different type muffler systems and most work. However, I have a good customer that just spent well over $2,000 on silencing systems that missed the mark by a mere 3dbls. He also has a ticket. I don't know what type boat you have, but if you ever get stopped by the Marine Police, have it checked. You may just be very surprised at the results. In my opinion, most would not pass if running wide open throttle on plain. But, that is just what I think. New technology is coming out constantly. My .02 worth ...
