I have struggled to come up with a "definition" of when a fetus becomes a baby.  I keep coming back to the thought that there is a magic moment when it could be said that the child could survive outside the mother's womb....but even then many that are born premature rely on the heroics of a skilled medical team.

That being said, when the sperm fertilizes the egg a human life has begun, it just needs its mother to help it along, much like the full term infant cannot survive without someone giving it food and shelter after birth.

No easy answers.
