PWCs have a totally differant style of impeller. The cooling system is fed from the pressure side of the jet pump, and the impeller has a tight tolorance but never contacts the housing. There is no service interval unless sand, debris, rocks or other foreign objects damage the impeller or housing. Now yamahas on the other hand have had a notorious problem for years that they seem to neglect, and that is a faulty pump seal. If the machine is cavatating or feels like its not pulling hard and the motor revs, you have lost a seal in the jet pump. Mainly on 98 and newer to present day.
