  During the battle of Waterloo the French captured a British officer.

  "Why do you wear red coats when they make you such a conspicuous target,"  the French officer asked?

   "So the men won't be unnerved at the site of blood," The British officer replied.

   "Good idea," the Frenchman replied and that is why, to this very day, the French wear brown trousers.
