It surely doesn't take much gas to make a 2' x 2' slick. Practically every boatowner spills that much each time they gas up! That just shows how silly that law is. It soon will make us quit having dockboys & girls. You see, if we (our employees) create the spill, we are then responsible under the law to report it. If the customer fuels their own boat, we are not held responsible.

You are wise not to try to 'top off' the fuel tank on your boat. When you can hear the fuel approaching the fill casting, stop right there. Most gas is spilled when people try to put in as much as possible.

The old days when you could have your own 'skid tank' are gone. ADEM won't license them and will shut down any fuel distributor who delivers to such a tank.
