I think Tiger Comm may have gone and confused some folks in the thread below. There is no such
think as a day use permit for 'performance boats' or any other boat for
that matter. A boat is either legal or not. It is true that some of
the 'performance boats' from before the asinine law was passed are
permitted to operate on the lake, but those boats were grandfathered in
and have already been inspected and sticker-ed by the MP. I can assure
you those owners/operators know who they are and are well aware that
they can enter any poker run on the lake throughout the season.
Maybe
you were thinking of the permit that must be obtained by the event
organizers to hold the poker run. As I understand it they must obtain a
permit to operate the event, just as any person, organization, charity,
or business must do before conducting 'business' on the lake.
I
am certain that this explains things and has it clear as mud. Bottom
line is, if you don't already have a sticker allowing your vessel on
Lake Martin, you aint gonna get one for this event unless you go through
the extensive process of acquiring the permitted use sticker that has
been available since shortly after passage of the law.
