It doesn’t matter to a log truck driver… the mud that is. It is WAY to much trouble to even consider how inconsiderate it is to track all of that mud… and rocks… onto the roadway. After all… log truck operators are SPECIAL. If I were an enterprising police chief, there would be some BIG bucks waiting at every entrance to a clear-cut operation. “Creating a public hazard.”  I’d make that a $150 fine. Imagine the run a log trucker couldn’t make if he had to stop and explain why he trashed up the highway.

If it added one penny to the cost of a paper bag… it would be worth it. 

By the way… other states have laws which prohibit fouling the highways by logging and construction operations. Those states are cleaner… and safer. (hmmmm… but, I still wouldn’t leave Alabama to move back to either one of those.)

It seems sad… the need to legislate common courtesy.
