"The customer is always right.” Have you heard that one before? Its origins are in the concept of “good business.” even though we do not agree with the customer, we owe it to her (or him, or them) to respect their perspective and expectations.

Have I ever had to stomach a customer or client whose position I abhorred - uh - in fact, yes. I disagree that it is prudent to release former military impact areas for unrestricted land use. Our government (which has selectively chosen to be immune from CeRCLA SARA) does exactly that. Yet, as a geophysicist, my client hired my company to clear those areas. Though I found the government position to be imprudent - I did the best I could. I could have quit.

The current argument is whether private businesses may - or may not - be legally required to serve same sex customers. Guess what - immorality and the punishment thereof - is the purview of GOD. I do not believe that GOD will d@mn me for deferring judgment to him. In fact, he specifically instructs me to stay out of the judgment business.

Moral judgment aside, good business is good business. If you decide to run off non-threatening customers whom you don’t like - perhaps you are in the wrong business.

Jesus sat down to eat with sinners. Therein lies a lesson for all of us. You’ll no more attract bees with vinegar - than you’ll cure sin with judgment.
