Is your son there on a football scholarship? If so, you should support the team wholeheartedly, if for no other reason that the $$$ they saved you.

If not, why attend the games at all?

I cannot even imagine selecting a university solely for the football team unless, of course, you receive a scholarship too good to turn down.
