That thought crossed my mind as well.  Surely the American People would not be so stupid as to reelect the one who got us into a mess like that, but from what I have seen so far, I doubt there is anything the Dems wouldn't do if it meant they would stay in power.  There seem to be a lot of lemmings who just hit the "D" and pull the lever, no matter how badly their choice from the last election might be performing.
