AU simply started the season too far back in the pack in pre-season polls and couldn't climb the mountain. Pre season polls simply sell magazines and keep sports talk radio alive from early summer to September. They are the real culprit. I thought the bigger travesty was Cal getting bumped by Texas for the Rose Bowl because of a whining coach. Cal could have handled the majority of the SEC this year.
