You may want to check the local taxes for the various municipalities to explain some of the differences..

I think the gas companies have more to do with the gas prices than the local stations. As we all know the individul gas stations make very little per gallon of gas (one to two cents no matter what the price). This is the reason so many individual stations have to have convenience stores or reparir shops to survive.

It will be intersting to see what happens to gas prices after the elections.
