How do you think they can go about getting around to the necessary cuts? It seems to me that there is an impasse coming when the House approves a budget with significant cuts that the Dem-led Senate will not approve. We can't just keep passing CR's forever, right? It seems to me that the GOP would be showing real leadership by not passing more CR's which will force the Dems to do something, right? The GOP proposed $61 billion in cuts which is only a reduction of 4% of the total deficit (2% of the overall budget) and they have been rejected by the Dems. How do you get them to the table to discuss serious cuts when they block even modest cuts (and in my view woefully inadequate).

How do we get them to the table for serious discussions? And Obama is no help at all as the cuts he proposed were tiny and have all been incorporated into the CR's already. Every time he proposes his miniscule cuts the GOP puts them in a CR and we get them enacted. But he doesn't propose anything that is even remotely serious. I personally think his strategy is to avoid any real cuts, way for the GOP to propose something responsible and then attack them using the old, worn out mantra of starving Granny and eliminating SS. I understand the politics of all this but you write as if only the GOP is playing them. That's just not the case.
