I wonder as Joes 'advisors' plan this forgiveness of a contract to repay : is any part of the decision based on a debtors income or assets ? Any ratio ( debt to income)analysis being done on their ability to repay ? If AOC & Omar make $178k annually why can't they repay what they committed to ? I am sympathetic to those struggling but not a wide brush across the board to wipe out the debt solely to please the left & get votes-do what some lenders do for those struggling-restructure the debt -rather than  foreclose: but not all those in debt are struggling and US taxpayers shouldn't foot the bill-another point-any forgiveness should be treated as 'income' and treated appropriately-and forgiveness should be equitable -apply to both Federal loans as well as private-otherwise it is inequitable -a favorite word of Dems
