Have you lost your mind? Boats depreciate immediately after the ink on the sales contract dries. Properties on Lake Martin have always appreciated. Unless you had invested in one of only a handful of the many stocks sold (google, for example) you couldn't obtain the kind of return that an investment in property on Lake Martin has historically brought.

Surely you know that there is no dock space at a Lake Martin marina for such a boat. Nor is there haul out equipment for it unless you bring in a crane from B'ham. Then, where would you place it? There's a whole lot of cha-chinging that needs to be planned. When it's time to sell that big houseboat you will realize an even smaller niche market. This is where the "greater fool" theory comes into play.

If you are already tired of looking at the unfinished condos across the river from you get a realtor to market your property and invest in an even more desireable piece of Lake Martin.

Oh, I nearly forgot to mention that the Alabama legislature will be considering a bill that limits the sizes of boats allowable on Alabama's reservoirs. (Limiting speeds is not being planned at this time. Of course that wouldn't be your problem.)

You're a great guy but I just can't wish you good luck with the houseboat thing.
