While on active duty I was the Commander of the field office for a Defense Agency in Seoul and the cultural education was something to behold. Went to the DMZ several times, escorting "visiting firemen" from DC, and once with my family. We were able to go into the room where the negotiations take place, and while there actually step into North Korea. Is a rather sobering experience to stare into the face of aNorth Korean guard outside the room, with nothing but a pane of glass separating us. The Korean culture is very much age and position-centric. The largest church in the world is the Yoi-do Full Gospel Church in Seoul. The congregants, if asked, will not say they go to that church. The will say they go to "Doctor Cho's church"
The reason for all of this is to try to explain that those 120,000 people, or at least a lot of them, are there because Kim is their leader and they will follow him, period. Sad to say, but true.
The Korean culture is fascinating but not something to try to type out on an iPhone keyboard...
