Just curious as to reactions to Jameis Winston's half-time suspension from the Clemson game this Saturday. This is the same individual who received the Heisman Trophy last year. For those who don't know, he stood on a table in the university dining hall and shouted obscenities toward females that were in my view sickening and should be beneath the dignity of any human being. I find what he said to be too vulgar to print here, but if you haven't already heard you can find it in the news and on the internet. With the latest upsurge of the negative information that is coming to light about todays athletes, it seems that Mr. Winston has not kept up with the news. He has created a formidible list of negative behavioral episodes in just a very short period of time. Before the beginning of last football season he was accused of rape(an investigation is still ongoing). He and a friend were confronted by police for shooting squirrels with a pellet gun while riding bicycles on a bike path. It is said that he and friends shot out windows during a BB-gun battle. He stole a coke from a Burger King, and left a Publix grocery store without paying for $32 worth of seafood for which he was suspended from three Florida State base-ball games for punishment. It is also said that during a youth football camp last year he told the youngsters that playing quarterback is where the "women are". In my opinion. suspending him for the first half of the Clemson game is a joke. That is like a coach telling his players that after their game meal tonight they are going to have ice cream for dessert(but Jameis, for you , you can only have a half a bowl because you are being punished). That is probably an elementary analogy, but I think it makes as much sense as a half-game suspension. If coach Fisher had suspended him for the complete game, that would have garnered him a lot more respect. Many of his teammates have come out saying he is not putting his team first. "Bottom Line", if Clemson is winning at halftime and he comes in and wins the game, "who" is going to get all the "glory"? To quote another forums contribitor, "Just Sayin"!! The only important thing at this time is to keep Florida State Number 1 and in the running for another national championship. ESPN analyst Mel Kiper has dropped Winston fron 3rd to 25th on his Big Board for the 2015 NFL draft. With all todays hoopla regarding sports figures, wouldn't it be irionic if all the professional teams decided that they could do without a young man with such a pristene background?
