I also built steps and a platform that is under water. I have tried roofing shingles and carpeting but still have the slick problem. When the water goes down I'm going to try a very course exterior carpeting to see how it will do. Thanks Jim for offering to kill yourself. Let us know beforehand where to send flowers.
