I never have gone over to Auburn to shop. But it would be fun, I'm sure. I think there are some outlets near Auburn now.

Russell Outlet is very easy.. It sits right on 280 basically a block East of the Russell Medical Center (same side of road.) (sort of a strange triangular shaped building) you can't miss it.
