Let me make sure I understand your position: you agree with me that the question in the OP is unrelated to the thread subject, right? If so, then we're discussing issues that are driven by poverty. Immigration is not part of the discussion.
If the above is correct, then you're kidding, right? You'd have to be willfully ignorant not to see the conditions in Alabama that lead directly to homelessness, poverty, crime, and addiction. Alabama has 3.4 times as many drug overdose deaths per 100,000 population as California, and Alabama has a 17% higher rate of violent crime than CA. CA does have more homeless than AL, at least in reported numbers, but one of the big problems with states like AL is that they do do a generally poor job of reporting statistics like this.
The fact is that CA residents send more money to Washington than Washington spends in CA, while the situation is exactly the opposite in AL: they receive more federal funding than their citizens pay in federal taxes. The question in the OP is premised on an outright lie.
