Review of the Coosa "pondage" on Alabama Lakes above shows over 2,500,000 foot acres on the Coosa compared to 2,000,000 in Lake Martin and Lake Wedowee. Although booth systems have "run of the river" power generation the Coosa is not short on impoundment of water. Seems logical that the early drop in Martin could be balanced better with use of Coosa system. At the current rate of lowering, large parts of Martin are limited to only five months of dock and boat usage, detrimental to the Tallapoosa economies. I must be missing something. Or, APC needs the power from Martin more than from the Coosa- which might be more costly. Losing the coal generation capabilities may even add to the pressures to draw down water in the future. And that is not mentioning the Atlanta water needs over the next ten years.
