So the guy didn't fire a shot and gave up peacefully, stating later he wanted to see if Wal Mart would honor his second amendment rights.

He was just plain stupid, unless his motive was suicide by cop.  I guarantee if I see someone in my neighborhood Wal Mart, Winn Dixie, Publix, or wherever armed and dressed like that my concealed carry piece will immediately be unconcealed and the idiot challenged to drop his weapon(s).  I might end up dead but that brief interruption to the perp's plans might give some a chance to escape who might not otherwise be so lucky.  And who knows, if his first shot aimed at me misses he might be the one pushing up daisies. 

Seems like such a "good guy" confrontation is what the former public safety gent did in Missouri and thankfully nobody was shot or killed.  But I really wonder, what in the world was going through that kid's mind?
