One of the many pre-election spins we heard was that people were angry with government and that this was an anti-incumbent mood because of the ad economy and nothing more. Well last night put that fantasy to bed. Not sure what the numbers as some of the close races are called but so far only two GOP incumbents were defeated.

There is no doubt this was an anti-Dem election as we saw numerous very conservative Dems in the south go down in flames. What the GOP has to understand is they are not all that popular as a party and certainly not consistent with the numbers last night. What this tells me is they attracted independents that realized their mistake in 2006 and 2008 and that they were put there to roll back and oppose the radical Obama/Reid/Pelosi agenda and to offer conservative solutions.

If they fail to do so they will be punished in 2012 and rightly so. The House needs to vote to repeal Obamacare and send it to the Senate. They need to vote to extend the Bush tax cuts for at least three years, if not permanently and send it to the Senate. They need to pass a budget that doesn't fund one penny of the implementation of Obamacare, cuts federal spending and does not contain one single earmark. And that is just what they need to do in January.
