Feb, Your original post on 2/22 was about Walter Reed Army Medical Center. From what you said, I felt you were holding President Bush responsible for the operation of that facility. My response to your post was not a challenge but simply a question as to what you thought he should do. Your next two posts to my response did appear to be "blowing me off." In your third post to my response, you apologized and went in to detail on things you (and I) care deeply about. I have the highest regard for our military personnel and know full well that the freedoms we all enjoy today would not be possible without their actions and sacrifices.
However, no where in your post did you mention Walter Reed Army Medical Center and what you felt President Bush needed to do to correct the problems that apparently exist there. My personal thoughts are that President Bush is first and foremost Commander-in -Chief of our military, but he is not a hospital administrator. Just as there are generals responsible for battle plans and operations, there are generals responsible for medical facilities and care. If these officers do not properly carry out their duties and responsibilities, they should be dealt with along the chain-of-command. As you probably know, Major General George Weightman has been fired as head of Walter Reed by Army Secretary Francis J. Harvey. Today, Harvey was asked to step down by Defense Secretary Robert Gates. Was President Bush involved in any of these decisions? I don't know. My only hope is that these changes will ultimately eliminate the problems at Walter Reed.
Lastly, I'm not going to debate you or anyone else concerning President Bush. My opinion is he is a man of conviction and high moral character, and is doing his best to protect this country. Has he made mistakes? Certainly, we all do. Most likely, he'll make more. But he won't make the mistake of giving up though. He'll just keep on trying to do what he thinks is best for our country. Isn't that what all government officials should be doing?
