I believe former SOS Rex Tillerson was instrumental in lobbying the BSA to accept openly gay members.  Trump was not too kind in his recent remrks about Tillerson.  I doubt that it had anything to do with the current BSA situation, but as you say, liberal thinking (now that's an oxymoron) turns all they touch to crapola.
