The NSA is not listening to US citizens’ phone conversations and reading email arranging trysts with co-workers, or bank robberies, or price fixing, or insider trading… etc. That’s the realm of Facebook and Google… and in criminal activity, under warrant, the FBI. NSA is data mining for indicators of terrorist threats against the US and its allies.  The NSA does not have time, inclination, or authority to engage in voyeurism against American citizens engaged in illicit acts, perversions, infidelity, or other hedonistic pursuits. 

Massive, high speed, NSA computers and programs conduct data mining for digital clues (ELINT) that elements of international terror and subterfuge are communicating.  Human Intelligence (HUMINT) has not the capability to do this. If these digital clues point to coordination of internal (domestic) acts of terror, the information is forwarded to the FBI for action. If the digital clues indicate foreign involvement against the US, the NSA will turn the digital information over to CIA and or DoD for action. If the process indicates an act against foreign countries our intelligence agencies will notify the requisite intelligence agencies in the targeted countries. (Recall that Russia tried to warn us about the Boston bombers. The Russians had connected the dots and notified our FBI of the impending threat. WE stupidly brushed it off!)

The NSA data mining process is NOT aimed at you unless you are a terrorist or agent of a hostile enemy. There is no need for you to wring your hands and scream insult.

THE BIGGEST MISTAKE WOULD BE TO FORCE THE NSA TO STOP THIS PROGRAM!

If you NEED something to protest, you need to go after the ObamaCare Data Center where your government is REALLY spying on YOU… by collecting intensely private information about you and your family. They will allow UNVETTED “navigators” (including criminals) to process your information for third parties. Here’s where your hair needs to stand on end, your flesh crawl, and your patriotism to surface. Your doctor will tell you that they are already being forced to provide… to such national database… your medical, insurance, and personal information… HIPAA be damned!

“Article the sixth [Amendment IV] The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”
