Regardless, a spark means current and I need to know where that current is going.  If to apply the initial charge to a capacitor or coil, that is ok because once they reach equilibrium no more current will flow.  That seems to be the case because a short would have completely depleted the battery over a two week period, but I need to ensure it is not some sort of parasitic current.
