Take a ride over to Harbor Pointe and checkout the park-like benches out front. While there a few weeks ago, my father noticed the bench, primarily the wood. He has strips of the particular wood but didn't know what special way to use them; now he does. The wood is some type of Brazilian hard-wood. Extremely tough, good amount of weight, lasts a very long time, has an amazingly good natural finish, basically requires no maintenance, but, may be a little pricier than Teak. Its so dense that trying to put a finish on it, e.g., stain, is difficult due to the wood repelling the stain. There was some type of technical name for the wood but it escapes me at the moment.
I'd checkout this particular hardwood, just for low-maintenance and durability, supposedly longer than teak.
