The water is low, there are unchartered hazards, and I would love to swim amongst them ;-)
Honestly, you don't need to wory too much about the old bridgespan yet, but you might with another 5 foot water loss. I have not swam the entire span, but I have been at 10 ft (468.5ft) of water with an 18 inch piling long by my side....
Folks, we are going to reach historic lows for our generation and we need to understand how to prepare for , and how to preserve what will become "land" with the low water situation.
No one has stated what we can do for positive impact in this situation. We all talk about preservation, but we see no action. There is an island now forming north of Anchor Bay which I have never paid attention. It is a wonderful place for me to drop anchor and take the kids for a dip. The sad thing is that there is a 50 gallon trash can in the middle of the island which is years old and it is overflowing with rubbish. The entire island is full of debris (old wheel barrow, etc.) and it is not a by-product of low water.
I task everyone of you to find a new piece of land which you have never stopped on as you pass by, to stop and walk around. Get a feel for its past inheritance and pick-up where they left off. This means you will need to take many 50 gallon contractor bags with you on this quest! Don't let the spring cleaning be your highlight!
