He was lucky enough to get a very good job. Surprisingly at such a young age.  Chiefs of Staff on the Hill are pretty powerful and generally speaking, go to more mature people.  He must have had very good connections.

  I think some are drawn to the spotlight and some aren't.  I know a lot of people that work for think tanks and some of them really are experts, yet they don't turn up on TV as a talking head.   I have to say that I am always a little skeptical of anyone that says they are an "expert" on anything, particularly when they are working in DC and particularly at a young age.  A lot of time, people's "expertise" only comes because they wrote a paper on something in grad school or wrote a white paper for their boss.
