You and I diverge on our thoughts of the handling of our personal data. I do not trust that the Government scanning/retaining information will only be used for what they claim, I could care less whether it is collected by Obama, Bush, Boehner, the IRS, NSA, FBI, BATF or Baskin Robbins. I feel that when the info is stored, it is done so for future use - kind of like a database of all the 4473 forms - this WILL be used for "unforeseen additional purposes" to "keep our country safe." This is nothing new; I understand that data collection has been going on for decades, but I fail to see why this is viewed as being acceptable. In the days of Carnivore, storage was much more expensive, and information was harder to collect; now storage is cheap (relatively speaking) and just think what kind of interesting stuff you could learn with a simple query...
