Apparently they have decided to have him joke about it as a way to defuse the situation.  I'm not sure that's the right strategy but I am thinking it may fall flat with women.  Personally I think the whole thing is a joke but you gotta give the Bernie bots kudos for possibly taking Biden out before he even gets in.  Seems they learned something from 2016 and the Hillary campaign about preemptive strikes against the competition.
