Whether you agree with Trump's recent tweets and other comments regarding the ''squad'', Rep Cummings. and Baltimore or not, my assumption is that you agree with most prognosticators on both sides that it is being intentionally done with the 2020 election in general and appealing to and firing up his base in particular. Well the Trump campaign might want to do a little research into the 2012 vs 2016 turnout before they become married to his strategy. Turnout in 2016 for the areas where Trump's base resides was up several percentage points from 2012 and was so high there is little room for expansion. However, the Black turnout nationwide was down in 2016...in PA and MI the Black turnout was down an 12% (150,000 votes in PA and 125,000 in MI) in 2016 vs 2012 while in WI it was down 20% (90,000 votes). Trump carried PA by about 46,000 votes, MI by 10,000 and WI by 22,000. After Trump's recent screeds, which are at best controversial and at worst hateful and racist, is there anybody that really thinks that an equal percentage of Blacks will be staying home 2020 regardless of the Democratic candidate? Really, think about!
