Yes, That sure could happen. Trees and debris can fall on top of a shelter. We can pour a concrete pad around the top of the shelter to protect it.
Our underground shelter doors open to the outside. You can keep a door jack in the shelter, but if it's a super big tree or a whole house that may not work. Proper placement of the shelter is very important for this reason. We also register each shelter with the EMA and 911 so they know where to look when rescue time comes.

The best feature of the fiberglass shelter is that you should be able to get cell and internet reception. We also can run electricity into them, but that may not help if the power is down.

Our above ground shelter doors are wheelchair accessible and the doors open to the inside.
