I use to live in the area near 4 Mile Church road and hwy 53, spotted several bears in the area. One right on Yellow Creek rd. just south of hwy 53, he was standing in the middle of the road, stayed there until we got about 30 feet from him, I had slowed to a crawl to get a good look at him, think I may have a picture we took, would have to look through the old 35mm albums. There are several wildlife management areas there, one off of hwy 372 near Conns Creek Road, can't remember the name of it. There is also the Dawson Forest Wildlife Management Area off hwy 53 east of Jasper. Good Trout fishing on the Amacola River south of the hwy 53 bridge in the big rapids, several holes in the rapids that hold fish. Also north of the bridge at a place called Steel Bridge, take Amacola Church rd, north to Steel bridge rd, take a right, you'll know when you're there...........
