I'm sure we have all heard the parable of the man in the flood:

The flood waters are rising, the man crawls to the lower roof and begins to pray. A boat arrives to offer assistance. The man refuses saying he has no fear because God will keep him safe. Water rises higher. he crawls to the ridge of the roof and continues his prayer. A 2d boat arrives The man again refuses aid because he has faith that God will keep him safe. Finally he is perched on the top of the chimney with the waters lapping within inches. A helicopter offers assistance but he again refuses putting all his faith in God to give him deliverence. Eventually he drowns and goes to heaven. When he meets God he questions why God had failed to keep him safe. God replies, "what, you mean the 2 boats and helicopter I sent didn't make it to you?"
