Not sure why you are jumping on me -- I'm in agreement.

Meetings would sure be a lot shorter if people didn't go chasing white rabbits down a hole and if they didn't throw red herrings on the table. I used to play much the same role as you describe, because my personal idea of hell is to be stuck in an endless meeting.
