With regard to the Constitutional question, the question fails on validity but measures emotional identification with a misinterpretation.

The question is not valid because there is no requirement in the Constitution for the separation of “church and state.” That phrase appeared in a letter from Thomas Jefferson to a Baptist convention in New England. The second amendment specifically directs that Congress shall not make any laws which establish an official church for the United States… thus, precluding a US version of the Church of England (the Anglican Church) and all of the support taxation thereof.

The reliable measurement in the survey question is that the people, of the United States, are fed up with the concept that God cannot be represented, or tolerated in a government funded venue. Certainly, more than a quorum of the founding fathers were Christians. As such, and as well represented in the very philosophical foundation of our Declaration of Independence and Constitution, these wise men realized the role of faith and the presence of God in the welfare of our nation. That we have collectively, either by action or by acquiescence, spurned God should lead us to be unsurprised at our current distress.

To paraphrase a great verse of the bible: “If my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray… then will I heal their land.”

How much faith will it take to save our nation? Start by throwing the weight of yours behind the effort.
