Actually, you can not just change out a bulb. The bulb which I seem to recall is a 175 mercury bulb has to be encapsulated with a mogul bulb socket so it will not risk contact with moisture.

I believe the owner of Green Moster Lights will have you buy the new electrical cord with the encapsulated socket and bulb which is then hooked into the electrical box. He used to have the prices on his web site.

Here is another approach. Obtain a bulb and a mogul socket. I do not think you will find these locally, but I bet there would be a source in B'ham, Atlanta or possibly Montgomery. You might check Grainger's in Montgomery or their internet site. Then there is a seller on eBay that will have the encapsulating compounds (the eBay seller name is "polymerproducts"). You will remove the cord from the water, unplug your box, and then snip the end with the bulb off and bare the wires. Using a six to eight inch piece of pvc pipe, run the wire into the pvc and cap that end, attach the bared wire to the bare wires of the mogul socket, tape with electrical tape and even solder if you like, screw in the bulb, and fill the pvc with the mixed together encapsulating material (it comes in two liquid which harden after you blend them). Make sure all the uninsulated wiring, mogul socket and just beyond the metal end of the bulb are covered in the encapsulting mixture. Then let it set over-night, place back in the water and plug in your unit.

There are also sellers on ebay for mogul sockets and also mercury bulbs if you do can not find a source near you.

Email me if you have any questions.
