I've long held a belief that we do not want to do anything about the illegals because if we really did cause them to go back to Mexico, it would destabilize the country. People willing to leave a home country to seek a better life are ripe to cause a revolution back home. Feds are stuck with that probable reality and that most Americans will not support an amnesty program. So they play politics and posture, but do nothing in the end.
Far as this "racial profiling" garbage, just remember with the expanded Patriot Act, American citizens are at the mercy of any police who merely Claim there might be some terrorist connection to violate your rights. That is far more insidious and dangerous than a local cop who may have reason to suspect you are not an American citizen and request id. Oh, I know why they don't protest that. It's not a vogue thing resulting in photo ops, media exposure and more money flowing into their coffers to support their self serving parasitic lifestyle supposedly protecting their interests.
