Now, you can forget what you want but I would suggest when you invest in the market you follow the numbers and what is behind them. The logic that is used to develope various reported statistics can give you insight into trends.

You can call it fuzzy math, Obama math or Palin trying to make the Messiah look bad.

The unemployment rate is calculated by dividing the total number of unemployed people(numerator) by the number of people in the labor force(denominator). When people re-enter the market to begin a job hunt again, they boost the number of the unemployed until they find a new position, boosting the overall unemployment rate.

So, the rise in the unemployment rate was due to more people feeling that the economy is good enough to restart their job searches. That’s a good sign, even though it means more active competition for job-seekers.

Your argument should be that these same people helped to reduce the unemployment number when they stopped looking for a job. That, I would agree.
