Most folks who make predictions never look back to see how accurate they were. Not so with the “Eclectic Chicken Auction New Year Predictions for 2010”. Now a few months into the year is a good time to check the results, and possibly make adjustments as needed. Below I have the prediction and the results for the first five months:

January Prediction: Maddog has a George Costanza moment after his “I must swim every month” swim on January 5th. He explains to his wife “Well, as I came out of the water, I looked down, it looked like an icycle, I thumped it, and it fell off”

Result: Rude Evin got in on the action, too, on 1/6/2010 as he reported he had “to walk the line to open his drain valve last night”. And Maddog has limited his postings to “annuals, flowering fruit trees, scrubs and tomatoes” and building a Guest House because “the wife and I need a place to hide”

February Prediction: Feb has to go to counseling when Tallulahhound breaks the news to him, “No, Feb, the month is not named after you”.

RESULT: The therapist was reported as asking “Now why would you think that the shortest month of the year would be named after You?”

March Prediction: After winning a relicensing injunction on lake level, the water warriors—FullPool, PC AL, Kenny D, FLgirl, preserveLM, and Osms---- march on the Alabama Power office in Clanton chanting “Three at last, three at last. We have 483 at last”

RESULT: Hey, have you ever seen THAT much water in January through March. There are preliminary plans to re-enact the march during the annual Chilton County Peach Festival. They are now taking applications for who they will nominate as peach queen.

April Prediction: After convincing Delta to install two Etecs on the plane for his next flight, jlazc breaks a world record in a flight from Willow Point to Wetumpka.

RESULT: The chicken feathers led us a bit astray on this one, maybe because jlazc changed his name right in the middle of the action. This has turned into a “phathom” pontoon race between the name changer and Maverick. So far it has been only a race of words.

May Prediction: Finishing its GPS monitoring system, Alabama Power installs a satelite system over Lake Martin to electronically signal and prohibit any structural change within 30 feet of 490….except for property owned by Russell Lands, Inc.

RESULT: Not so sure the new system is working. New development “Water’s Edge” is on, well, water’s edge. New renovations seem closer to the water than ever. And, true to form, any APCO building requirements seem non existent for the first lake front house in the new Russell development in Pitchford Hollow. I guess politics were programmed into the GPS monitoring system.

More to come…..
