A homeless man is hit by a car and receives serious but non life threatening injuries. He is rushed to a Catholic hospital emergency room where his injuries are treated with skill and compassion. The next day he is about to be discharged and must speak to a nun at check out about the charges. The nun asks if he has any insurance. "No I don't have any insurance." "Do you have and money in your checking account?" "Sister I don't have a checking account or any other kind of account. You see I don't have any money except the 42 cents in my pocket." "Well perhaps your parents might be able to pay the charges." "My mother and daddy are both dead." "how about brothers or sisters?" "I don't have a brother and my only sister is an old maid who is a nun like you so she sure can't come up with anything." With this statement the business office nun becomes rather testy. "Sir if your sister is a nun she is certainly not an as you say "old maid". She is in fact the bride of our Lord." The patient smiles and says "Well then why don't you send the bill to my brother-in-law?"
