I did a fair amount of research on fuel consumption for outboards and many manufactures list performance data on their web sites. I've found my Etech to be a little better than advertised on fuel and a little worse on oil. I normally run between 3000 and 4000 RPM. At 3000 RPM I'm running 23-25 MPH (depending on weight) and at 4000 RPM I cruise at 36-38. My best (and most comfortable) cruise is about 3500 RPM, with a speed of approx 31 MPH and a burn of just under 9 GPH. These speeds are a few MPH better than listed on the Rude site and come from my GPS. At 3000 RPM, fuel burn is about 7 1/3 GPH and at 4000 RPM it's about 11 3/4 GPH....wide open burns about 26 GPH so I rarely go there and I burn less 1/4 GPH at idle.
