I am very sorry that your dog was shot but the bottom line is that your dog was probably on their property. You have no idea what their past experience with dogs are. Some people are so terrified of dogs and feel very threatened by them. If an animal is on your property and you feel threatened you have every right to defend yourself, even if it means shooting it. We have a golden retriever the we know would not hurt anyone but other people don't that. We would never let our dog loose around at the lake for fear of what may happen to her. Lake Martin is a rural area and people follow a different set of rules. Dogs get shot down their all the time.
