We live on a small public lake in south central Illinois. We recently installed a floating boat dock, with rollers and stabilizing pins. After our recent tax assessment, our county assessor saw fit to assess the dock as real estate, although it obviously is moveable and not anchored to the property. Has anyone else been assessed for a dock like this in another county? This county has never done this before, but has decided they can get away with it now, for some reason.
