Hub this one brings to mind an old joke that made the rounds in GA years ago. Marvin Griffin was the last staunch segregationist governor of GA. One day his motorcade is blocked by a police line in downtown Atlanta. The Governor gets out of his car and asked what is going on. An officer tells him that a young man is on the ledge 12 floors above the street threatning to jump.

Old Marv is sad and shocked and goes to a 12th floor window and leans out to try to talk the man out of jumping. "Young man please come back inside, you have your life in front of you. I'm sure you have much to live for."

"No my life is no longer worth living, I'm ending it now."

"No no, now wait, think of what this will do to your parents."

"My parents are dead."

"Well, what about your friends, think of how they will miss you."

"I don't have any friends."

"Well, good grief, consider your proud southern heritage, think about your brave forebearers like Robert E. Lee"

"Who is Robert E. Lee?"

The Governor looks down at the crowd below and shouts "Clear a spot for the yankee!"
