Yesterday, on Morning Joe, they interviewed Bing West who has written a new book "the Wrong War". Mr. West was a former Assist. Sec. Of Defense during the Reagan administration. He has been traveling in and out of Afghanistan for the past 4 years.
According to his premise, we are wasting our time with "nation building" in Afghanistan. We are handing out money to village elders to the point that they have come to expect it, but we aren't getting anything in return. So he proposes that we draw down our troop levels to 70,00 and return our focus exclusively to war fighting.

Might be an interesting read. Made me wonder how much we are being told about the truth of our activities in Afghanistan.
