Even if Obama authorized offshore drilling tomorrow, it wouldn't do anything about the price of oil today. Everything I'm reading leads me to believe that it is speculation in the oil market that is driving the prices up, not anything the Administration is or is not doing. Libya only provides 2% of the world's oil and almost none to the US. Our big supplier is Saudi.

This is just a cycle -- notice that prices are not high because of a shortage. Why make a long term commitment to a short term problem?
