You know, I'm not disappointed. I'm not even mildly surprised. All of this was political posturing -- playing to the base on both sides. Yesterday, I read an essay by an American University professor that pointed out how a government shutdown could actually benefit all sides politically. Cynical? Yes. But elements of truth? Yes.

I just don't trust members of Congress on either side. Politics in Washington is all about compromise. It's the ultimate you wash my back, I'll wash yours institution.

Nobody gets a dime of my money until they start actually representing the people that put them there and stop worrying so much about re-election.
